Last updated: 1 September 2026. This policy explains how HomeSecurityFX treats personal information collected through homesecurityfx.com, email, and residential security jobs. Home protection work is sensitive by nature: floor plans, camera positions, and lock types can reveal how a property is defended. We treat that information with corresponding care.
1. Who is responsible
HomeSecurityFX is the controller for enquiry forms, newsletter lists, and job files we create. Device manufacturers are separate controllers for their own cloud video, biometric lock templates, and mobile apps. When we help you create a manufacturer account, you also enter that company’s privacy terms. Read those terms before you enable cloud recording.
Questions: info@homesecurityfx.com. We do not publish a physical address or telephone number on this website.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you send us
Name, email, message content, property type, number of doors, existing equipment, preferred visit windows, and any photos you attach of doors or camera locations. Newsletter forms collect name, email, and topic interest. Unsubscribe forms collect email and an optional reason.
2.2 Information from a survey or install
Notes and photographs of mounting points, Wi-Fi strength readings, device serial numbers, account emails used for apps (not passwords), which adults hold admin rights, and a list of sensors by room. We do not ask you to email master lock codes or live camera passwords in a first message.
2.3 Information we do not want
Do not send copies of identity documents, children’s school details, or fingerprint images to our general inbox. Biometric templates belong in the lock or vendor app. If a message includes extra sensitive data we did not request, we will ask you to stop and will delete the extra material from our mailbox when practicable.
2.4 Technical data on this website
This static site does not run a login database. Your browser may still send a standard request log to whichever host serves the files (pages visited, approximate time, browser type). We do not use that log to build advertising profiles. Forms validate in the browser; they do not transmit to a HomeSecurityFX server unless you later connect a backend. Until then, treat on-page success messages as confirmation that the form was filled correctly, not as proof of storage on our systems.
3. Why we use information
- To answer quotes, schedule surveys, and perform installation and support.
- To email service messages about a job you asked for.
- To send the newsletter only if you submitted the subscribe form.
- To improve how we explain products, after removing details that identify a household.
- To meet accounting, warranty, and complaint-handling duties.
We do not sell household lists. We do not use camera footage from your property for advertising. Staff training clips, if ever used internally, are anonymised or taken from our own demo equipment, not from client homes, unless you give written permission for a specific clip.
4. Legal bases
Where privacy law requires a basis, we rely on steps needed to answer a request you initiated, on a contract for a paid job, on legitimate interests in securing our operations and defending legal claims, and on consent for optional newsletters. You may withdraw newsletter consent on the unsubscribe page. Withdrawal does not affect a live installation file.
5. Cameras, doorbells, and household privacy
You decide where cameras point, who receives alerts, and how long clips are kept in a manufacturer cloud or on a local disk. We will advise against placing cameras in bathrooms or in positions that capture a neighbour’s private interior. If you insist on a placement we consider unlawful or abusive, we may refuse that part of the work.
Household members and regular visitors should be told that recording is in use. In shared housing, you must have authority to cover common approaches. We can help write a short notice for a hallway, but we cannot police every occupant after handover.
Audio recording, if enabled on a doorbell, may be more restricted than video in some places. We will default to the more conservative setting you approve on site.
6. Locks, codes, and biometrics
Fingerprint and face-unlock features are processed by the lock vendor. We configure enrollment with the people present. We do not keep a shadow copy of fingerprints. Guest codes you create after handover are your responsibility. If a relationship in the household changes, update codes promptly; we can talk you through the menu but we cannot know who still lives there unless you tell us.
7. Sharing
We share data with: the device brands you choose, only as needed to register warranty or cloud; specialist trades we subcontract for height access or electrical isolation, under a duty of confidentiality; professional advisers if a dispute arises; and authorities if the law requires it. We do not share your floor plan with marketers.
If we use an email delivery tool for newsletters in the future, that tool will process addresses only to send the list you joined. The unsubscribe page is the self-service way to stop those messages.
8. Retention
Enquiry emails that do not become a job are kept up to twenty-four months in case you write again. Job files, serial numbers, and warranty notes are kept for the longer of the warranty period or seven years for accounting. Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe. Manufacturer clouds keep video according to the plan you buy from them, which we do not control.
When retention ends, we delete or irreversibly anonymise files in our possession. Mounted devices and local storage at the property remain yours to wipe or destroy.
9. Security measures
We use unique logins for staff mail, we avoid storing customer passwords, and we train technicians not to photograph keypad codes. On site we change default device passwords. You must still protect your Wi-Fi and your phone. A system is only as private as the weakest shared login in the family.
No method of transmission is perfect. If we learn of a breach affecting your contact data, we will email the address we hold and describe what we know, without speculating.
10. International tools
Camera and lock makers often process data in more than one country. Your use of their app is a transfer you accept with that app. HomeSecurityFX website files may be served from a content host that operates in several regions. We do not publish a map of every server; we choose reputable hosts and keep this policy accurate when our stack changes.
11. Children
Our services are for adults arranging protection of a home. We do not knowingly collect a child’s contact details through website forms. Cameras in a family home will record children who live there; that is your household’s responsibility under the terms of the camera app. We do not use those images.
12. Your choices
- Ask what job notes we hold, in plain language.
- Correct a name or email.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters.
- Object to optional uses that are not required for a paid job.
- Request deletion of enquiry mail that never became a contract, subject to legal keeps.
Manufacturer video and lock biometrics must be handled in those apps. We can sit with you during a visit to help find export or delete menus, but we cannot press a button inside a company we do not operate.
13. Cookies and similar technologies
The public pages are static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We do not drop advertising cookies. If a future analytics script is added, this section will name it and how to refuse it. Fonts and icon libraries may be loaded from public CDNs; those CDNs have their own privacy notices.
14. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. The date at the top is the latest version. Material changes to how we use newsletter data will be mentioned in an email to current subscribers where we still hold a working address.
15. How to contact us
Email info@homesecurityfx.com with the subject line “Privacy”. Include enough detail to find your file, but do not paste live camera passwords. Hours: Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 18:00.
